Downgrade PSP 2.5/2.6 to 1.5 is REAL!!!

2.50/2.60 Downgrader

This is a breaking news for PSP firmware 2.5/2.6 users like me. Have you ever heard someone said “It is impossible for PSP 2.5/2.6 to be downgraded!!”, “haha, too bad dude, you got a stupid 2.5/2.6 PSP that cannot be downgraded and play ISO UMD”, “You will be regret if you plan to go for white PSP 2.5/2.6″. That is what we heard in the past time.

Now PSP 2.5/2.6 can be downgraded to 1.5 except PSP that having TA-82 motherboard. I have downgraded my White PSP with Factory firmware 2.5 to 1.5 successfully 2 days ago, right after Dark_Alex released final version downgrader along with Mathieulh and Yoshihiro. We also give BIG THANKS to Hitchhikr who make exploit possible in PSP 2.5/2.6 via GTA eLoader. After Hitchhikr successfully unlocked PSP 2.5/2.6 kernel, beta version of downgraders are released in short time. We shall thank to those brave PSP users who had been trying to downgrade their PSP during Beta version. There are some people who bricked their PSP during downgrading their PSP. So sorry about them and we must appreciate those brave guys who point out the failure reason for developer to improved the beta downgrader.

As you noticed the following date are when the Kernel was unlocked and downgrader was released. Downgrader is released within A WEEK time after Kernel is unlock!!!
27th June 2006 – PSP 2.5/2.6 Kernel Mode Unlocked
30th June 2006 – Downgrader V5 Beta Released which having more than 90 percent success rate.
2nd July 2006 – Downgrader Final Version Released < -- I'm using this final version to downgrade my PSP 2.5

Faisal’s Guide to Downgrade your PSP from 2.71 to 1.5

2.71 to 1.5 GuideHi everyone,

First of all I would start by introducing my self, My name is Faisal from Saudi Arabia. I am doing this step by step guide which is part of my quest to 1.5.

Now some of you may find this lengthy and boring. Well…. The idea behind writing this in such detailed way is to ensure I cover all the topics that are required to achieve a successful 1.5. Also this is intended for Noobs like my self who ask for more eachtime. So here it goes:

What PSP I have:

I bought my PSP 1 month ago. It was a factory 1.52FW PSP-1007K WS259 “C”. This is the Taiwanese version. For those of you who don’t know the previous versions of the Software downgraders were unscuccessful with a PSP-1006 & 1007 (Asian versions). But that’s not the case with Dark Alex’s Easy Full Downgrader 2.71>1.5 by XTRUSION.

History of UPGRADE Before getting 1.5!

As mentioned above, I had a factory 1.52FW, so in order to play the new games I upgraded to 2.60FW using the GTA disc FW upgrader that came embedded in my GTA. It is a US version of GTA (PATCHED ONE!!!!). believe me the reason I decided to use the new 2.71 Easy Full DG is because I couldn’t find the GTA unpatched version here in Saudi. For those who don’t know the previous Dark Alex DG 2.5/2.6 required an UNPATCHED Copy of GTA LCS (it is as hard to find these days as a factory 1.5… TRUST ME). (How to tell if you have a UNPATCHED …. The ONLY way is to put the UMD in, if it asks for a version 2.0 upgrade it is UNPATCHED otherwise it is PATCHED.

So on 1st September when I came to know about the new downgrader 2.71 > 1.5 I went to the dl.qj.net site and downloaded a copy of the 2.71 FW to upgrade. Successfully upgraded to 2.71 I believe it was the North American version. So once I had the 2.71 I was all set to get 1.5.

Checks before downgrading

THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF MY POST…. READ CAREFULLY. All the information here will help you decide weather you qualify for a Downgrade or not. Pls. Pls. people don’t flood forums by posting 100s of questions with out doing your home work…. As for my self…. I studied about a month from various forums….. trust me the knowledge and person experiences of others really eased my quest…. Anyways…. This is a list that should be followed A-Z no if’s and but’s :

1) Dark Alex Easy Downgrader 2.71 > 1.5 by Xtrusion is ONLY for 2.71.
2) Don’t use it on 2.70 or 2.80. IT WILL BRICK. For 2.70 owners upgrade to 2.71 first.
3) Owners of TA-082 IC1003 (text is on right, if on left behind UMD casing no probs as in my case it had IC1009 behind UMD casing). Don’t do it if you have TA-082 MB, it’ll BRICK.
4) DO NOT forget to plug the power cord all through the process. VERY IMPORTANT.
5) I used a 1GB Sandisk Pro Duo MS. Formatted using my PSP. (u can use 32MB as well).
6) Ensure you use the FULL VERSION of the DG 2.71 > 1.5 using. Don’t use the LITE version. The Full does the job for you, don’t have to worry about placing files and folders in the right places.. The full version is the best way to go… YES It includes the 1.5FW dump… no need to ask for links anymore. Just get the full version and you’re good to go. I got it from RAPID SHARE. It is an EXE file 15.6MB has voice acting funny hehe… especially the “PSP” one….

The Actual Downgrade:

Ok, so after you’ve gone through the above check list, you’re good to go,,,, although the most important thing that you need to understand is : “You’ve been Warned !!!!! This could potentially brick your PSP. Your best chances of doing it right is if you follow the above list and ensure that you’re ready to accept the outcome, Don’t blame anyone…. IT IS YOUR DECISION.!!!

• Connect you PSP to the power adaptor.
• Format your memory stick using PSP.
• Connect to the PC using USB cable
• Run the Dark Alex Easy DownGrader 2.71 > 1.5
• It will ask you if your PSP is compatible or not. Proceed to the next screen and identify drive letter.
• Next the program will start copying the files on the MS for the 1.5 dump.
• Once done, it will ask you to disconnect from USB and go to Photo to run the DG.
• VERY VERY IMPORTANT: It may not run on the first try due to an instability of the TIFF exploit. For my case it took 5 tries until it Finally worked. Just remember don’t worry if you go to Photo and screen FREEZES. This means you need to restart. Don’t worry… you restart manually by holding the ON switch for 10 seconds. You’re still at 2.71 NO HARM to your PSP. According to Dark Alex the code will either execute Fully or Not at all. So don’t worry. I also encountered memory still flashing for about 20 seconds but no red screen. Also one time out of the 5 tries MS light just stayed ON until I manually switched the PSP OFF.
• REMEMBER you are only looking for a FULL RED SCREEN, this is the point of no return. Once you get the RED Screen just DON’T TOUCH ANYTHING!!!!! It should flash for about 2 Minutes and then your PSP will go BLACK. Again give it another minute don’t RUSH!!! Now the software will advise you to switch ON and see the BLUE ERROR screen.
• Just switch it ON using and you will get the BLUE Screen with a lot of text saying “System setting are corrupted press “O” to goto default settings. Now press the O button and wait for the hand of fate…………… You’ll get a reboot and it’ll ask you to set date time etc…. once done you will have a 1.5 FW… YAAAAAAAAAYY.

Special thanks to Dark Alex, Yoshiro, Fanjita, Xtrusion and other developers who made this so easy and possible. Also special thanks to POX & RAGGABLE of PSPHACKING101.com. You guys are unbelievable.. Watched all your 18 episodes… awaiting the next one anxiously.

So in the end guys, trust me it is not difficult at all….. it is really easy with the voice interface. And the process is only 5 minutes total.. so don’t deprive your self of the wonders of 1.5.. HOMEBREW, ISOS, DEVHOOK here I come!!!!!!!

Good Luck to all.!!!!!!

r u 100% sure????????? how do i find out if my psp is TA-82 or not

  2. skyfish - August 2nd, 2006 at 10:59 pm

    jackdripper:

Ya. I’m very sure. during the Downgrader V5 Beta Released, there was already 93%++ success rate for downgrading PSP 2.01/2.5/2.6 to PSP 1.5.

To find out whether your PSP is TA-082 motherboard which cannot be downgraded now, refer to this link.

My white PSP also have printed number on the circuit board but the number is located at opposite side(left). If yours also located as left side, it would be okay, its “IC6001″ and so glad that it is not TA-082. So i still able to downgrade my PSP.

Just follow exactly the steps. fully charge your PSP and plugged with power adapter. Mostly will be downgraded successfully. I’m also not dare to take the risk at first until the Downgrader Final Version Released

note: Any how, as usual, try it at your own risk.

  5. skyfish - August 6th, 2006 at 10:55 pm

    Stf:

ya, u need someone who has PSP 1.5 firmware to obtain some file from 1.50 updater. Because these files are copyrighted and illegal to share. That’s why you saw from many website/guide about asking you to get it from someone who own PSP 1.5 firmware. However, Internet unable to avoid Internet user to share this file over the net.

The downgrading process is really simple but you have to aware that anything you do is at your own responsibility. As long you get the DOWNDATER folder from PSP 1.5 or from your friend, then you are able to downgrade your PSP from firmware 2.5/2.6 to firmware 1.50.

    At your PSP 2.5/2.6:

    1. I assumed you have the knowledge of running eLoader from GTA game load. I believed you already have DOWNDATERTEST in your MS0:/PSP/GAME/.
    2. Make sure your PSP is fully charged(recommended) and connected to AC adaptor.
    3. Then you can start the DOWNDATERTEST application from eLoader. Don’t worry that if you noticed that nothing display on the screen because it is actually running.
    4. You won’t see any type of output of screen but you will noticed that the memory stick light is flashing. That menas that your PSP is being flashed. PLEASE DON’T TURN OFF PSP, DON’T TAKE OUT MEMORY STICK!!
    5. When the memory stick light is stop flashing, your PSP should be flashed back to 1.50. And now power on your PSP manually. You would probably see this message “Cannot read disc”. It is fine because UMD device has not been reset properly during the flashing process. Just restart your psp again manually and that “Cannot read disc” problem is solved.
    6. If everything fine, you would have PSP 1.50 or your PSP is showing as v2.01 then you just need touse Wab Version Changer and change it to 1.50. THAT’S ALL

again: as usual, try it at your own risk.

    RB:
Dude, so sorry that hearing a bad news from your friend.I have no comment bout that sad story. Of course i’m only tested one PSP and that’s my only one PSP. I just like you guys only can afford one PSP.

As i read from Internet, PSP 2.01 should upgrade to v2.5 and downgrade. I only tested my while PSP which has factory firmware 2.50. And of course I was very afraid that I brick my PSP during downgrading.

What I can say is a very GOOD LUCK to you brother. Only try it after you make up our mind.

  7. skyfish - August 6th, 2006 at 11:23 pm

oh ya, after i downgraded my PSP 2.50 to PSP 1.50 I had tried to upgrade my PSP 1.50 to PSP 2.0 and downgrade it to PSP 1.50. It’s working fine for me and i felt very relief. It is recommended to perform such extra task that I read from Internet.

    My downgrading process:
    1) PSP 2.50 —> PSP 1.50
    2) PSP1.50 —> PSP 2.0
    3) PSP 2.0 —> PSP1.50 (SUCCESS!!)

I would suggest you guys read all comments from PSPUpdates 2.5/2.6 Downgrader FINAL Released! Post. Currently there are 923 comments. LOL hope you guys see the big picture there.

  8. Stf - August 6th, 2006 at 11:35 pm

  9. RB - August 7th, 2006 at 4:51 am

i am with the 2.01… what do u mean with the “Wab Version Changer”? i didn`t get that part…
and.. what do u recommend? upgrade to 2.5 or 2.6?

There are few homebrew application/tools/utilities that allow us play UMD ISO game. Certain game only can be play by certain homebrew application/tools/utilities.

You may visit this link to know which application/tools/utilities that you need to play your downloaded UMD ISO game. PSP Compability List

Mostly new game will be using DeviceHook and currenty its version is 0.46. Try to download from torrent site.

    DevHook V46 Ultimate Installer or
    DevHook 0 46 FULL Installer by BADR1X

There are much more amazing homebrew application for PSP 1.50 user.

  11. skyfish - August 7th, 2006 at 12:24 pm

RB: Wab Version Changer is to change the firmware version logically. I doubt most of PSP 2.5 downgrader can be downgraded to PSP 1.50 directly without the need to use Wab Version Changer. For me, I didn’t use that. You may google for more detail about Wab Version Changer if you want.

I would recommend you update your firmware to PSP 2.50 will do since you can be downgrade from PSP 2.50 so that’s no point to make it PSP 2.60

  12. Faisal - August 20th, 2006 at 1:57 am

Hi all, im Faisal from Saudi Arabia. I have a factory 1.52 psp that i updated to 2.60 using the GTA (US) FW update that is coming with the game. Now i have a 2.60 PSP. I really want 1.50 and been reading about the XTRUSION easy 2.60 > 1.50. I obtained the copy of US EBOOT 1.5 also. NOW THE QUESTION: I have a PSP-1007 (Taiwan) version, it is not TA-082 since no writing on the right, only some letters on the left. So can i downgrade a PSP-1007 with this downgrader. You may know that earlier software downgraders didn’t worked with PSP-1007. So pls. pls. confirm to me the situation and i will post the results. Thanks to all you guys for sharing valuable information here.

  13. skyfish - August 23rd, 2006 at 12:04 am

Faisal: I’m not very sure bout PSP-1007 whether can be downgraded, as far as i seen is always mentioning bout TA-082 which cannot be downgraded up to now. I can’t promise much for your downgrading task. For safety issue to avoid your PSP from bricked, maybe you should try to gather more information bout PSP-1007 and gain more confident before doing it so.

I tried to google PSP-1007 downgrade but it seems not much information. I think because most people didn’t really named out their PSP region version as me. As i said, i also spent few days to make up my mind for downgrading.

Before you do so you should think bout the consequence of bricked, like “i already decided to buy another PSP even it is bricked.”, “I can take the risk and nvr blame someone else cause i’m the one who decided to do so.” or come to the worst “I won’t play that damn PSP because its so easily bricked.”. All the best dude.

  14. Faisal - August 24th, 2006 at 8:14 pm

Thanks skyfish for your reply, you rock man!. I’ve been doing my homework, tryin to dig more info and stumbled upon a downgrade video of a Latino guy who bought his PSP-1006 from Hong Kong (You may know that 1006-1007 are almost identical). And this guy downgraded without a hitch. So i guess this may suffice my first question. However now the new question is, i downloaded the Easy Downgrader by XTRUSION from psp-hacks site, this is the FULL version, and as i red this does not need you to have a 1.5 PSP handy, cause all the 1.5 files are already in the Full downgrader. Could you confirm that? and also if it does contain the E-loader as well, meaning all i have to do is format memory stick and run the damn thing and it’ll do the rest.?

Finally last question: I am not much tempted with emulators for the first generation consoles like the SNES, Genesis etc… rather the only reason i wanna downgrade is to have the ability to play ISOS. I want to know are they availble for download from the net?? i know it may be an ILLEGAL question? but just a simple answer won’t charge us…

Also tell me did you use the Easy downgrader Full version also to downgrade??

Once again, thanks for your reply…. later..

  15. skyfish - August 26th, 2006 at 5:37 pm

    Faisal:
ya, the Easy Downgrader full version is already included DOWNDATER folder (which is obtained from PSP 1.5). All you want to do is get yourself a GTA UMD and follow the instruction of Easy Downgrader installer. You do not need PSP 1.5 now since the DOWNDATER is provided. And yes, it include e-loader as well. All you have to do is get a memory stick which has at least 32MB memory space. As the installer go, it will copy needed files to your PSP memory stick and the instruction of Easy Downgrader is simple and complete.

After you downgraded to PSP 1.5, you can do lot things with your PSP. Like streaming video from your PC to your PSP, listen to stream radio, play ISOs, play SNES, Nintendo 64 games, GBA, bla bla bla. You even can write your own program to run on PSP that is what they called “HOMEBREW”.

Of course , UMD ISOs is illegal. However, there is very hard to control the information/resource over the Internet. Hence we have bit torrent introduced to the world now and it allow me to download lot of PSP ISO from torrent sites. I normally go to http://www.mininova.org which there is a PSP category of torrent. Or u can search the particular PSP torrent from http://www.isohunt.com or http://www.thepiratebay.org.

And for the updates and information bout PSP, you can visit http://www.ps2nfo.com and pspupdates.qj.net.

I’m not using easy downgrader because my brother has PSP 1.5 so the DOWNDATER folder and files i extracted myself via my brother’s PSP. Since it is the same as the one provided by Easy Downgrader so i believe you can proceed with Easy Downgrader.

Hope to hear the good news from you, friend. If you still have any question, just raise out and i will try my best to help you. Just afraid that maybe my response is slow.
    All the best dude!

  16. Faisal - September 1st, 2006 at 12:36 pm

hey skyfish, can’t say much about how important your feedback is to people like myself who are some how not well versed with all the crazy stuff round the clock…. anyways you last message and some further study over the net has helped me make up my mind and i’m gonna go for it….. the only step that is halting the downgrade is having GTA….. i mean the UNPATCHED version of GTA. I bought it as soon as i got a PSP however the darn thing’s PATCHED…. URGHHHHH!!!!!! Been tryin since to locate a human who can tell me that he has it…. You see the problem here in Saudi is we don’t have any rental system, also the market is not so huge… but still GTA sells like crazy… therefore unable to find a single copy of the old version… now i guess the only bet is to look around at EBAY or stuff…. but man !!!!! there are some thugs there !!!! saw some ads people asking for 60+ bucks for an old version….. any suggestions..?

    Later.

  17. Sleeping_Insomniac - September 2nd, 2006 at 11:05 am

Ok, can somebody please help me. I have been searching forever and i can not find neither the easy downgrader Full version with the downdater folder, nor the 1.50 downdater files alone. Could somebody please give me a link for the full version of the downgrader or better yet could you email me the 1.50 downdater folder at Sleeping_Insomniac@adelphia.net i hate to be reduced to begging on a forum like so many others, but i’m at the end of my rope. please help.

  18. Sleeping_Insomniac - September 2nd, 2006 at 11:14 am

Disregard my last post, i was able to get the downdater folder by running the easy downgrader app but saying my psp is an empty folder so it just extracted the files there, thanks anyways

  24. Faisal - September 17th, 2006 at 7:11 pm

    Hi all,

Sorry i’ve been away for some time, anyways Skyfish, i am happy to tell you: I AM A FREAKIN lucky 1.5 OWNER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YEAY!!!. Following is my step by step guide that i made for all noobs like my self who had so much problem figuring this out. Again thanks Skyfish for your support. keep up the good work dude….So here it goes…

    2.71 to 1.5 Guide

    Hi everyone,

First of all I would start by introducing my self, My name is Faisal from Saudi Arabia. I am doing this step by step guide which is part of my quest to 1.5.

    Good Luck to all.!!!!!!

my psp doesn’t say “IC6001″ on the back does this mean it can’t be downgraded

  27. skyfish - September 23rd, 2006 at 2:01 pm

    Faisal:
Welcome to PSP 1.5 world~! I really feel glad that you finally get your PSP to 1.50. And i’m very appreciate that you shared your brilliant experience of downgrading your PSP from 2.71 to 1.50 with detailed explanation.

So, I believe you start to get the joy of 1.50 now rite? hehe

  28. skyfish - September 23rd, 2006 at 2:27 pm

    michael:

“My white PSP also have printed number on the circuit board but the number is located at opposite side(left). If yours also located as left side, it would be okay, its “IC6001″ and so glad that it is not TA-082. So i still able to downgrade my PSP.”

If your “IC6001″ number is located at the same side as mine. I think it can be downgraded. Please refer to my earlier comment for more information. Good luck dude.

  29. skyfish - September 23rd, 2006 at 2:29 pm

    abishek:
Ya, dude. It’s the same address as what we mentioned. just download the FULL version. Good luck.

  30. michael - September 24th, 2006 at 9:36 am

by psp doesn’t have “IC6001″ on either sides do i need to have this model to be able to downgrade

  31. skyfish - September 24th, 2006 at 6:44 pm

    michael:
Oops, I thought your PSP is having “IC6001″ number on the back. Sorry that I didn’t read your question properly.

The answer is “NO”. If your PSP does not have “IC6001″ on the back, it doesn’t mean that you cannot downgrade your PSP to 1.5 version. As long as the motherboard of your PSP is not TA-082, you are safe to downgrade your PSP.

If there is no number on the back of your PSP, then your PSP is not TA-082 motherboard. It means you can downgrade your PSP.

Refer this to check whether your motherboard is TA-082.
    Check TA-082 Guide

I have a psp 1000 with a IC6001 on the left hand side when looking at it with the psp logo upright. It is a 2.6 v Am I right that I need a usb cable and a memory stick of 32mb+? I have all the websites that I need to get my downloads from but what steps do I need to do beforehand, Do I plug in my psp into the pc with the memory stick in and formatted? Once I have downloaded my upgrade to 2.71 what do I do next?I think abishek said that I need to save it to psp/game/update, then do I follow what faisal did with the downgrader 2.71 -1.5?

  33. Dickson - September 28th, 2006 at 11:10 pm

    Hi there,
Recently I became the proud owner of a white PSP 1000KCW with version 2.60. I’m thinking of downgrading to 1.5 but I’m very clear on how to do it as I’m quite new to PSP. I know that there are different version of downgrader program around, so I’m afraid I might brick my PSP! And I dun hv the GTA umd.
So can let me know what are my options and which version of downgrader shld I use?
I have also heard that after downgrade to 1.5, we can still emulated 2.71, is it true?

  34. skyfish - September 28th, 2006 at 11:14 pm

    koi:
Ya, you will need USB cable to transfer file needed to your memory stick. 32meg memory stick is enough. You can use larger capacity memory stick if you have one.

You can just format your memory stick from your PSP, it doesn’t matter.

Faisal done a very great job here by posting his guide with his own experience. You can follow Faisal’s guide, it is very detail. We shall give him a great clap.

So you can just follow his guide to get you to PSP 1.5 world. As usual, good luck, and welcome you to PSP 1.50.

  35. skyfish - September 28th, 2006 at 11:56 pm

    Dickson:

You can refer to Faisal guide which was posted comment here. Faisal gave us a very good guide and I believe it can help you in downgrading your PSP.

You doesn’t need unpatched GTA UMD to perform downgrade now. What you need to do is to upgrade your PSP to 2.71 firmware. And downgrade from 2.71 to 1.50.

And you are right, from PSP 1.50, we can emulate 2.71, 2.50 firmware PSP with DevHook. So the answer is “It is true”.

You can always refer to http://www.ps2nfo.com and pspupdates.qj.net.

  36. Dickson - September 30th, 2006 at 12:12 am

    Hi skyfish,
Thanks for clearing my doubts and after reading Faisal’s guide, I’m confident I can downgrade to 1.5 too! Great job guys!
The only hurdle is how to upgrade to 2.71, I’m having a jap set, must i goto jap psp web to upgrade?

  37. skyfish - September 30th, 2006 at 12:50 am

    Dickson:
You can upgrade to any version of 2.71, it doesn’t matter which region you are. Mean you can upgrade to 2.71 with American/Europe update. It doesn’t affect your downgrading.

  38. clovis - September 30th, 2006 at 7:33 am

  39. Edon91 - October 1st, 2006 at 1:29 am

Just like Ragna, I also have two codes on my motherboard. IC1003 on the upper right and IC6001 under the UMD case on the left.

I’ve searched forums and stuff and can’t find anything about the two codes, except me and poor Ragna.

I upgraded from 2.6 to 2.71 and I need to know if I can downgrade safely to 1.5 without bricking using . If possible I’d like to do it without the GTA UMD.

Can somone please help and tell me if I have the dreaded TA-082??? If you want proof, I’ll send you a pic, email me at shukron3@zahav.net.il

  44. skyfish - October 1st, 2006 at 5:11 pm

    clovis:
very sorry that your PSPdowngrading process is failed. Would you mind to share more information about your PSP version and steps which bricked your PSP. Thus, others may aware of this if they have same model as yours.

By the way, you can look for Undiluted Platinum. Please visit link for more information.

  45. skyfish - October 1st, 2006 at 5:21 pm

    demonjay:
Firstly, welcome demonjay to PSP 1.5 world. :D
For your question, bout after downgraded PSP to 1.50 successfully, it is recommended to upgrade it to 2.0 and back to 1.50.

In my own opinion, It is just extra steps to make sure your downgraded PSP is stable. As it would be able to upgrade to 2.0 and back to PSP 1.50. Just to ensure you obtain clean 1.50 PSP.

  46. skyfish - October 1st, 2006 at 5:24 pm

    koi:
Just plug your PSP to your PC, and run XTRUSION Downgrade file that you have downloaded. It will show you step by steps. Just follow Faisal. It very detail. Good luck dude

  50. demonjay - October 1st, 2006 at 9:17 pm

i was also wondering wat is the best way to get wallpaper on your 1.5 psp

Thanks for all your advice but I still cannot upgrade. I am pc illiterate. I have tried to download onto my psp and my pc but no luck I don’t know what to press, where to save the files and how to access the upgrade, my psp still says 2.6. I have tried copying and pasting onto psp/games file but nothing , when I download what do I press on my psp. I need a step by step guide. Please be as simple as possible. as in go to download save in? put in usb lead?press what button on the psp? What file to save it in?? Help?!!!

  55. Edon91 - October 4th, 2006 at 10:59 pm

Does anyone know if having two codes means that it’s a TA-082???

Check it out. I have two codes on my motherboard!!

    IC1003 on the upper right
IC6001 under the UMD case on the left.

    WTF

I’ve searched forums and stuff and can’t find anything about the two codes, except me and Ragna (look up).

I don’t want to take a chance and downgrade until I know which board I have … anyone with some wisdom out there?

  56. Danny - October 5th, 2006 at 9:58 am

I want to downgrade my PSP soooooooo bad… But I hella love it… I can’t believe it has a chance to break. :( I’d like to know, what are the benefits of having 1.5, and are the instructions the same from a white psp imported from Japan and and American version Black psp?

  57. Danny - October 5th, 2006 at 10:17 am

I also don’t get it. Why is there a 10 percent chance of failing? In what part would it fail? bad manual? made differently?

  58. Danny - October 5th, 2006 at 10:18 am

Is it better to downgrade from 2.6 or from 2.7? I have a 2.6 so i’m wondering.

  59. Danny - October 5th, 2006 at 12:29 pm

Nevermind, looking back at what I wrote like an hour ago, I was noob. I’m going to try to downgrade tomorrow. Thanks all. For noobs like me, upgrade to 2.71 and then downgrade. It’s more risky and complicated to do 2.6-1.5 or 2.5-1.5. Good luck for me and everyone else. I’ll tell you guys tomorrow if it worked or not

Sorry guys, I was kinda busy last few days and didn’t respond to you guys.

Anyway, it seems PSP 1.50 members getting more now. ha ha. I should say “Congratulation and welcome to PSP 1.50 world!” to koi, Danny, & demonjay.

koi: sorry bout can’t get back to you earlier to provide detailed information bout downgrading. But it seems you already join PSP 1.50 world now. hope you don’t mind. hehe

Danny: Ha Ha, friend, I can tell from the comments that you really urge to downgrade your PSP badly. Anyway, you decided to take the challenge and now you got what you want. Feel glad of you.

  65. skyfish - October 9th, 2006 at 1:12 am

Guys, I have named out the person who successfully downgrade their PSP to 1.50 in the post. Please refer to the post if you would like to know who successfully downgraded their PSP.

However, there are people who did not inform us whether they have successfully downgraded their PSP to 1.50. It will be very appreciated for those who share their downgrading experience and their outcome here.

Hope they are more feedback on this. thanks guys.

  67. Greek Adonis - October 13th, 2006 at 3:30 pm

    Hi guys,
ive been reading all of your helpful tips and i think that its great that you’re helping guys like me (know nothing) to downgrade my psp. I have one question, is it easier to downgrade from a 2.5 -1.5 using the full dowgrader from xtrusion or is it easier to upgrade to 2.7 and then downgrade to 1.5. I have the unpatched version of GTA so please any response would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks again

  68. abishek - October 14th, 2006 at 4:02 am

well it worked 100 percent but its a custom devhook firmware if u face issues u need to deo a clean boot i.e update ur psp to 2.0 and run a program called mph downgrader to fool ur psp into thinking its version 1.0 so u can run a 1.5 official sony update file. its highly recommended to do this if ur facing issues like random unstability while running isos

  69. abishek - October 14th, 2006 at 4:05 am

ITS CALLED A CLEAN BOOT GOING FROM 1.5 TO 2.0 BACK TO 1.5, SINCE ITS A OFFICIAL SONY 1.5 UPDATE U HAVE NOTHING TO WORRY WHILE DOING IT AT ALL ITS VERY EASY SUGGEST U TRY IT, SOLVES STABILITY ISSUES ON HOMEBREW, UNLIKE THE 2.7 DOWNGRDED FIRMWARE WHICH HAS BEEN MODIFIED BY DARK ALEX

  70. abishek - October 14th, 2006 at 4:15 am

    FAISAL,

I COPIED UR GUIDE AND POSTED IT HERE WITH ALL CREDIT TO U

    http://www.hackmypsp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=3699#3699

UR GUIDE HAS GOT OVER 7,000 VIEWS

  71. demonjay - October 15th, 2006 at 3:12 pm

so abishek first of all thats a cool thing you posted faisal guide it would help a lot of people
and what i wanted ask you was
wat do you recomend…the mph downgrader and then update to a 1.5
or shall i upgrade to a 2.0 and then downgrade to a 1.5
because some peole say that it is best that you peform these steps to get the clean fw
and its better for the long term time
    i downgraded from a 2.5 to a 1.5 with the full downgrader from dark_alex and it worked perfectly :) :) :) :P

  72. skyfish - October 15th, 2006 at 10:22 pm

    Greek Adonis:
Personally, I have no idea which one is better: downgrade from 2.71(without GTA UMD) or from 2.50(with unpatched GTA UMD, eLoader).

I will say both also perform well as long as your PSP is not TA-082 type. So you can just upgrade to 2.71 and downgrade from it

  73. skyfish - October 15th, 2006 at 10:26 pm

abishek seems have done a very good job by sharing the guide in HACKMYPSP forum. That’s the joy of Internet by sharing USEFUL or HELPFUL stuff over the Internet. As we also hope other would share their any useful guide to us.

  74. skyfish - October 15th, 2006 at 10:39 pm

    demonjay:
downgrade from 2.0 to 1.50 is very common now. And Yes, you can just upgrade your PSP to 2.0 and downgrade from it. I had downgraded my brother’s 2.0 PSP last year when 2.50/2.60 is still impossible to downgrade.

Just one thing to remind you guys, MPHDowngrader hack your PSP via overflow.tif photo file. Some antivirus software recognized this overflow.tif file as infected virus file and unable to extract it. No worry, the file is nothing wrong. You can just disable your antivirus and copy overflow.tif into your PSP/PHOTO folder.

  75. demonjay - October 16th, 2006 at 5:02 am

maybe i do the clean upgrade
and i did a virus scan and my comp sayd that there was a virus it was the overflow.tiff
the name of it was pspbrick :P it was located in the psp/photo folder
but no harm a friend of my told me that i can take the overflow away it was needed
    for the downgrader to work
what do you say skifish can i erase the overflow.tiff wil it not harm my psp ?

  76. valued - October 16th, 2006 at 10:24 am

Hi i followed the detailed info faisal posted, and my problem is that when i execute the program from photo, it turns red and my memory card light flashes only once then it goes to the black screen,i then press on and it resets without date and time configuration , and then it still 2.71 firmware.

i downloaded the full pack (the very first option on the xtrusion website, picture says 2.71-1.5) only . Any help will be appreciated

  77. skyfish - October 16th, 2006 at 8:50 pm

    demonjay:
Ya, overflow.tiff file is needed during downgrading process only. After you have downgraded your PSP 2.0 to 1.50, the file no longer use. If I were you, i will remove overflow.tiff file.

And if you want to remain there, i believe there is nothing wrong. So you can safely remove it if you wish to.

  78. skyfish - October 16th, 2006 at 8:54 pm

    Valued:
according to Faisal’s guide, your screen should turn to FULL RED, and the memory will flash bout 2 minutes. If you can’t get the FULL RED SCREEN, you can repeat the steps again.

  79. Spurs68 - October 16th, 2006 at 10:58 pm

Just used the dark_alex downgrader and worked a treat (I had a 2.6 which I upgraded 1st to 2.71 and then down to 1.5) Had to run the program about 5 times before I got the red screen but be patient and you will be fine. I had an original 1.5 PSP which I sold around a year ago and never thought it would be so easy to get another one again.

  80. valued - October 17th, 2006 at 7:01 am

after 20 secs it quickly turns to black. Is there two diffrent colors of red because i get a red color the quickly it goes to black

  81. valued - October 17th, 2006 at 7:05 am

i do get a red screen dont know if its “full red” .

  82. Penfold89 - October 19th, 2006 at 1:23 am

i have a japanese white import psp v2.6 will the downgrader still work for me

  83. Faisal - October 24th, 2006 at 8:13 am

Hi guys, Sorry i’ve been busy with my newest sweetheart the XBOX360. Anyways in reply to “valued”s last post. The full RED screen is the RED screen that you got, hope the rest went through well. As for the rest i wish’me good luck. BTW if you need some video evidence as to how the process goes, simply visit YOUTUBE and search 2.71. Later…

  84. Pete’s Blog » PSP Flashing - October 26th, 2006 at 8:34 am

[...] Well thanks to google it turns out that you can downgrade a 2.5/2.6 (and hopefully 2.7) to 1.5 as long as it is not a TA-082 PSP. So I’m a little more confident. [...]
